A five day Faculty Training Programme on Oracle 11g conducted by ICTACT and ORACLE Academy at PET Engineering College successfully ended on 23/12/2011. The programme was organized by the Department of Information Technology. Faculty members from different colleges attended this programme.
The valedictory function was held on 23/12/2011. Dr.A.Syed Abu Thaheer, Principal, presided over the function. National S.M.S.Hameed, Correspondent, Prof.S.Abubucker, Dean, Dr.S.Arumugam, Prof.Emeritus, Director also participated in this function.
On the first day the topics discussed were Oracle Architecture, Control Files, Oracle Commands, and Oracle Releases. Next day the sessions went with topics such as Oracle Installation, Database Creation, Connection to different databases, and Instance Recovery. On the third day the items of discussion were How to manage Database Instance, PFile, SPFile, and Locking. On the fourth day detailed explanations were given on Oracle Server, Backup and Recovery. The subject of the last day session was Logical Backup and Recovery. The day ended with the practical sessions.
Principal suggested the participants to successfully transfer the knowledge gained to the students at their institutes. He also told that faculties should utilize such opportunities effectively. The participants at the end of this training felt that the training on Oracle 11g which promises nearly 482 new features will be of help for them to teach and guide students for their projects in a successful way. They also told that they were trained well in the area of Database Administration. Trainer Mr. Senthil Kumar, Senior Consultant, Oracle Academy told the participants interacted enthusiastically which resulted in successful completion of this course. He also told the course organization and the duration have been carefully planned to meet the goal of this training.
Mr. Anand Babu, Relationship Manager, ICTACT gave a brief talk regarding the activities of ICTACT. In his talk he mentioned that ICTACT achieved their goal by training more than 5013 members of faculty within three years. He told that the students would be benefited out of such trainings organized by ICTACT.
