The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency and Department of Technical Education organised a Seminar on ‘Renewable Energy and its Applications’ on 12th December, 11.

Dr. A.Syed Abu Thaheer, Principal of PET Engineering College welcomed the gathering. The function was held in the presence of National S.M.S. Hameed, the Correspondent, Mr. A. Abdul Razak, Managing Trustee, Mr. M. Syed Mohamed, Secretary, Prof. S. Abubucker, Dean, Dr. S. Arumgham and the members of Popular Education Trust.

Mr. Syed Ahamed, Deputy General Manager of Department of Technical Education was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Somasundram, Management Representative, Windcare India(P)Ltd, Udumalapet, Mr. T.L Victor, Business Head- Marketing and Mr. L.R. Venkatesh, Director of Vesat Solar Energy Systems delivered lectures on the importance of using solar energy. They emphasised that the installation and usage of renewable energy is viable than earlier. The seminar was conducted to motivate the educational institutions to use the renewable energy in order to reduce the global warming

Tamil Nadu especially Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts are feasible for the production of wind and solar energy. PET Engineering College is selected as one among the eight Engineering colleges for conducting this seminar. It is a credit to the College. Prof. A.M. Shanawas, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, delivered the vote of thanks.
